Networking Engineer

Responsibilities

A specialist in networking, this person will be responsible for implementing online features for our current project including matchmaking, online communities, peer to peer communication, content streaming, and user authentication. This person must be able to select an appropriate networking strategy for a game, assess the impact of other game systems on networking behavior, and comply with 1st party technical requirements. Other non-networking (generalist) related development will be expected depending on project needs.

Requirements

  • An understanding of the TCP/IP stack.
  • Implement, debug and optimize systems in C++ and/or C#.
  • Write documentation.
  • Assist and mentor other engineers in areas of domain expertise or specialization.
  • Investigate and adopt new networking and online technologies, practices, tools and systems.

Extras
——

  • A familiarity from a user’s perspective, of XBox Live, Gamer ID’s, etc would be an asset.

Qualifications
————–

  • Minimum 1-2 years game industry experience.
  • Strong OO design and development in C++ and/or C#.
  • Experience with fundamental networking areas such as synchronization, determinism, replication, prediction, latency, bandwidth, communication protocols and game network topologies.
  • Experience with Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP, 3DS, PC, Unity, iPad/iPhone or other tablet/portable devices would be a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with other engineers to obtain optimal results.
  • A passion for developing high quality games.
