Live Services Specialist

Hellbent Games is in the process of growing our talented team to build VHS- our multiplayer Unreal 4 action game. We are seeking an engineer with a passion for building and maintaining live game services that are scalable, secure and and highly-available.
This job involves development and maintenance of scalable, secure and highly-available services and infrastructure for online gaming such as player progression, cloud saves, account management, online storefronts, friend requests, party and guild systems, voice chat, profile statistics and database backup and recovery.

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of frontend and backend live service game systems
- Develop test code and procedures to validate service completeness and correctness
- Research and acquire new knowledge and skills to meet both current and future service and infrastructure requirements
- Mentor and educate other engineers on the team in the correct usage and maintenance procedures of online services
Requirements:
- Knowledge of object-oriented languages and design patterns
- Knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation
- Knowledge and proficiency with database systems
- Familiarity with web development languages (PHP, Ruby, HTML5, etc.)
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python
- CS fundamentals, including working knowledge of searching/sorting algorithms and common data structures
- Self-motivated and able to break down complex tasks into actionable items with minimal supervision
- Enthusiasm for creating an outstanding service experience for end users
- Ability to write clean, readable and testable code suitable for collaborative work
Pluses:
- Experience in building and maintaining ECommerce systems and websites
- Proficiency with AWS Cloud service technologies such as EC2, S3, DynamoDB and Lambda
- A degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with virtualization/containerization technologies and infrastructure such as Docker and Kubernetes
